Rowing Competition in Banyoles: United Kingdom Tops Entry List at the Global World Rowing Masters Regatta Event

The World Rowing Masters Regatta (WRMR) is gearing up for an unforgettable event in Banyoles, Spain, from 10-14 September 2025. This prestigious competition will attract over 3,700 rowers from across the globe, making it a truly international event.

The hosting of the WRMR in Banyoles is particularly significant, as the venue was the rowing venue for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Lake Banyoles is expected to provide a stunning backdrop for the races, promising wonderful racing memories for all athletes.

Great Britain leads the way with the largest contingent of athletes, followed by Aberdeen BC with 52 of its members racing. GB has over 100 British clubs represented, demonstrating the growth of Masters rowing in the UK. Marlow RC and Upper Thames RC are next in line with 79 and 77 entries respectively.

Aberdeen BC is the largest British club by crew entry for the 2025 WRMR. The competition features a total of over 5,395 boats, with around 680 races scheduled. The startlists for the event are now available on World Rowing's website.

The WRMR will also welcome large contingents from France, Germany, and the United States, while Australia, Brazil, and Japan will also be well represented. Participants range in age from 27 to 96, with the oldest rower traveling from Brazil.

Gary Bain, a member of the World Rowing Masters Commission and a stalwart of Aberdeen BC, has expressed excitement about the 2025 edition of the WRMR. He extends well-wishes to all British crews racing at Banyoles and looks forward to seeing many of them on the victory pontoon and/or enjoying a post-race cerveza.

The Banyoles Organising Committee is working hard to provide a fantastic experience both on and off the water. This event marks a significant milestone in the growth of Masters rowing and promises to be a memorable occasion for all involved.
