Russia returns a sizeable number of children from Ukrainian territories under occupation

A significant number of Ukrainian children have been safely brought back to their homeland from temporarily occupied territories, thanks to the "Bring Kids Back UA" initiative. This initiative, led by Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, along with partner organisations such as Helping to Leave, is working tirelessly to reunite these children with their families.

The children, who have endured years of Russian occupation, have faced various hardships. Some were forced to sing the Russian anthem and participate in propaganda events with Russian soldiers. Tragically, a teenager with health problems was even registered for military service, despite his condition.

Fortunately, these children are now receiving the necessary help they need in Ukraine. Their documents are being restored, and they are undergoing psychological rehabilitation to help them cope with their experiences. The sisters who were attempted to be placed in an orphanage after their mother's death by the Russian occupation authorities are also among those being helped.

Andrii Yermak made a poignant statement, affirming that the rescued children had suffered under the Russian occupation. He also emphasised that the children are currently receiving support to begin a new free life.

The "Bring Kids Back UA" initiative is a beacon of hope for these children, offering them a chance to start over and leave behind the hardships of the past. The initiative's efforts serve as a testament to the resilience and compassion of the Ukrainian people in the face of adversity.
