Russia suffered approximately 960 military casualties in the past day, according to reports from Ukraine.

In the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, significant developments have been reported in the past 24 hours. The Ukrainian military has claimed success in destroying a Russian radar system, a boat, and an electronic warfare station in the Black Sea. Additionally, two Russian tanks, 39 artillery systems, one air defense system, 256 combat drones, and 119 armored vehicles and other vehicles were destroyed, according to the Ukrainian tally.

In a positive turn of events, the Ukrainian military announced the rescue of four of its soldiers who had been hiding in Russian-occupied territory for over three years. This rescue operation marks a significant step towards reuniting the soldiers with their families and comrades.

On the political front, US President Donald Trump has expressed expectations for the release of many political prisoners in Belarus soon. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced new sanctions against Russia, aimed at pressuring Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.

The total number of killed or wounded Russian soldiers since the beginning of President Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine stands at 1,087,180.

In Europe, there are growing discussions about increased defense spending. Enzo Weber, an expert from the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), anticipates a long-lasting boom in the German defense industry. Up to 200,000 jobs could be created in Germany if it increases its defense spending from 2 to 3 percent of its gross domestic product on a debt-financed basis.

However, not all European countries are in favour of increased military involvement. The CSU chairman Markus Söder rejects German military involvement in Ukraine and suggests a debate on how to handle Ukrainian refugees.

On the diplomatic front, French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that 26 countries are ready to participate with soldiers in a force to secure peace in Ukraine. These countries include Germany, Poland, Italy, Lithuania, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia, among others. Australia has also expressed consideration for participation although it considers it too early for deployment.

The details of the security guarantees for Ukraine against a new Russian attack, in the event of a ceasefire, are not yet finalized. US President Donald Trump is working on security guarantees for Ukraine, intended to contribute to ending the war with Russia.

The situation in Ukraine continues to be a topic of international concern. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his comments on Hungary's rejection of Ukraine's EU accession. The government in Budapest continues to oppose Ukraine's EU accession.

The CEO of the energy company RWE, Markus Krebber, has cautioned that a possible restart of the Nord Stream pipelines is ultimately a political question. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the domestic industry to develop new engines for carrier rockets.

These developments underscore the complex and evolving nature of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and the global responses to it. As the situation continues to unfold, it is crucial for all parties involved to prioritize diplomacy and dialogue in the pursuit of peace.
