Russian assault causes damage to high school situated near Cherkasy

The Cherkasy Oblast in Ukraine experienced a series of incidents during a Russian attack on the night of 29-30 August. According to the Cherkasy Oblast Military Administration, there were confirmed strikes and falling debris throughout the region.

During the attack, several fires broke out in the Cherkasy Oblast. One of the fires, located in the city of Cherkasy, covered an area of 800 square meters. No casualties were reported from these fires.

In addition to the fires, fourteen drones and two Russian missiles were downed within the Cherkasy Oblast. The air defence systems were successful in downing 548 of the 582 aerial targets during the attack.

A private company in the Cherkasy region was heavily damaged by a blast wave, with its windows shattered during the attack. Similarly, a local specialized secondary school in the Cherkasy district also suffered damage from a blast wave, though the specific location within the district was not specified. The nature or extent of the damage to the school was not detailed.

The information about these events was provided by the Cherkasy Oblast Military Administration. The Russian attack on Ukraine involved attack drones, air-, ground- and sea-launched missiles. The incidents marked another escalation in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
