Russian Intelligence Agency (FSB) dismantled a Ukrainian sabotage unit in the Bryansk region
In a significant development, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has announced the dismantling of a sabotage group from the Special Operations Service of Ukraine. The group was allegedly planning attacks on transport facilities in Russia, with the bombings of railway tracks in the Belgorod region in 2024 being part of their alleged terrorist activities.
Three members of the group were detained, while three others were killed during the operation. The detained members are currently providing testimonies that implicate them in these terrorist activities.
According to the FSB, the training of the saboteurs was carried out with the participation of Western intelligence services from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Norway. The training took place in Ukraine, as well as in Lithuania, Estonia, and Norway.
Preparations for other terrorist attacks are also part of the group's alleged activities, as per the testimonies of the detained members. The ongoing investigative actions aim to gather more evidence about the group's activities.
Criminal cases have been initiated on the facts of the crimes. The FSB emphasised that this operation is a clear example of the ongoing efforts to protect Russia from terrorist threats.
The sabotage group's activities were not limited to Russia. They were planning attacks on transport facilities in multiple countries, according to the FSB. This underscores the importance of international cooperation in combating terrorism.
The FSB's success in this operation serves as a reminder of the ongoing threats posed by terrorist groups and the need for vigilance and cooperation in the global fight against terrorism. The investigation is continuing in relation to the sabotage group, and further updates are expected in due course.
