Russia's audacious assault on Ukraine intensifies, according to the EU's ambassador to Ukraine, as acts of terror become ever bolder.
In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russia launched a record-breaking attack on Ukraine during the night of 6-7 September. The assault, which involved over 800 aerial weapons, including drones, cruise, and ballistic missiles, targeted 33 locations across the country.
The combined attack, which used 823 aerial assets, saw 9 missiles and 54 drones successfully hit their targets. Unfortunately, the attack resulted in two reported deaths and 20 injuries, with the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, being one of the hardest-hit cities.
The government building in Kyiv was damaged during the attack, and the Cabinet of Ministers building caught fire. Other cities, including Kryvyi Rih and Odesa, also came under attack.
In response to the Russian aggression, Poland scrambled its aircraft and put ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems on high alert.
Following the large-scale strike, the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katariina Mathernova, called for an end to Russian terror. She stressed that the attacks are becoming more brazen and that it is crucial to stop Russian terror.
The attack on Ukraine has raised concerns globally, with many calling for peace and an end to the conflict. As the situation continues to unfold, the international community will closely monitor developments and work towards finding a peaceful resolution.
