Sabrina Carpenter releases steamy new album titled 'Man's Best Friend'
Sabrina Carpenter, the American singer-songwriter, has released her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend, on August 29, 2025. The album, produced by Jack Antonoff and John Ryan, consists of 12 tracks and has received generally positive reviews from music critics, with an average score of 76 out of 100 on Metacritic.
The lead single from the album, Manchild, was released on June 5, 2025, and is a country-influenced pop song that critiques immature male behavior. The second single, Tears, is a disco-inspired pop track with a catchy melody. Another standout track is the haunting ballad Goodbye, which showcases Carpenter's emotional depth.
The album art for Man's Best Friend caused controversy online, with some finding it offensive. In response, an alternate cover was shared by Carpenter on social media, featuring the caption, "Here is a new alternate cover approved by God". The alternate cover was also met with mixed reactions, but it seems to have calmed the initial uproar.
In an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Carpenter teased the album, stating it's not for "pearl clutchers" but can be enjoyed by them in their own solitude. She worked as a producer on the album, and her collaboration with Antonoff and Ryan has resulted in a diverse and engaging body of work.
The music video for Tears features Coleman Domingo in drag and is set in a Rocky Horror-like universe. Another noteworthy track is My Man on Willpower, a sultry number showcasing Carpenter's vocal range.
Man's Best Friend is a follow-up to Sabrina Carpenter's 2024 album Short N' Sweet, which topped the Billboard 200 chart for four weeks. With this new release, Carpenter continues to push the boundaries of pop music, delivering a collection of songs that are both catchy and thought-provoking.
