In the heart of Düsseldorf, Germany, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the PRIOS unit of the city's police force conducted a patrol around Düsseldorf Central Station as part of the SiBu (Safety in the Railway Station Environment) project.

The focus of the patrol was not solely on enforcing offenses, but also on offering aid and increasing safety in the area. Over the course of the evening, the officers conducted a total of 62 personal checks, during which they found several knives that the checked individuals had on them.

As a result, they filed 13 criminal charges, ten of which were drug-related. In addition to drug-related charges, the officers also filed two theft/recipient charges and one case of insult.

The patrol aimed to reach out to the homeless and drug-dependent individuals who had previously had no contact with aid offers. Officers connected these individuals with various aid offers, recommending institutions such as addiction counseling centres, emergency shelters, and social services.

Several drug-related offenses were reported during the patrol. However, the officers were successful in referring the aided individuals to appropriate institutions. Furthermore, they issued 29 exclusion orders to individuals who were deemed a threat to the safety of the area.

The SiBu project is a cooperation project aimed at ensuring safety in the railway station environment. The Düsseldorf Police will continue to patrol the area around the main station as part of this project.
