SB19 Releases New Extended Play "Simula At Wakas"

SB19, the popular Filipino boy band, has released a new extended play (EP) titled "Simula At Wakas" on April 25. The EP, which features different genres including hip-hop, rock, and ballad, is a testament to the group's versatility and growth.

The collaborators for the EP were not necessarily chosen but were selected based on songs that tell the group's story. International producers John Roa and FlipMusic, as well as local producers Xerxes Bakker, Alawn, August Rigo, Simon Servida, and Josue of RADKIDZ, helped to complete the tracks.

The music video for the lead single "DUNGKA!" was released on Friday. The video features celebrities Mimiyuuuh, Maymay Entrata, Alodia Gosiengfiao, Sassa Gurl, Jayat, Kween Yasmin, Malupiton, Ghost Wrecker, Shehyee, Smugglaz, Pat Lasaten, Agnes Reoma, and Vice Ganda, seemingly calling for collective action.

The EP's second music video, for the "anthemic ballad" "Time," was also released along with the EP. The video and the song express the impermanence of things.

SB19's leader Pablo believes his gift of creating music is not for himself but for others. He recommends "8TonBall" for working out, "Time" for a sentimental mood, "Quit" without regret, and "Shooting for the Stars" for a feel-good vibe.

The group's main vocalist, Stell, expressed excitement to perform "Time" and "DUNGKA!" for the fans. The members of SB19 have been working on new arrangements and choreography for their concert at the Philippine Arena.

In a remarkable feat, SB19 became the first Filipino act to hold two days of concert in the world's largest indoor arena. Seven hours after tickets went on sale, seats for Day 1 of SB19's world tour kick-off were sold out, prompting an additional day to be added to their concert at the Philippine Arena.

SB19 installed the infamous DAM Tree in Bonifacio Global City, where fans can experience the world of "Simula At Wakas" through parabolic sound drones. Each song in the EP has a different flavor and scenario for different types of listeners.

The group's song "Quit," originally intended to be a solo song by Ken, was changed to fit the group. The members of SB19 share parts of themselves through their songs and lyrics, expressing vulnerability and authenticity.

SB19 says they have no regrets about the risks they have taken, as they feel their learnings have been worth it after almost seven years since their debut. The EP "Simula At Wakas" is a reflection of their journey and a promise of what's to come.
