School AdaptationDuration Explained by Psychologist Romaniev
In two separate discussions, family psychologist Olga Romaniv and epidemiologist Andrei Sakharov have shared valuable insights on two distinct topics: a child's adaptation to a new school and a potential health risk for Russian tourists in Turkey.
Olga Romaniv, speaking on children's adaptation to a new school, emphasised the importance of considering individual characteristics. She highlighted the need to create a stable environment around the child, including a clear daily routine, words of encouragement, and time for learning, rest, and fun. Romaniv also noted that healthy sleep and proper nutrition can positively affect the speed of a child's adaptation to a new school. Furthermore, she advised parents to listen to their child's thoughts, share their joys and worries, and let them feel supported during the adaptation process.
Romaniv stated that it takes about two to four weeks for a child to adapt to a new school rhythm. She also suggested sharing positive memories of one's school years with the child to inspire them to learn. Romaniv added that a child needs to get used not only to lessons but also to a new environment.
On a separate note, Andrei Sakharov identified the Vibrio bacteria as a potential virus that Russian tourists in Turkey could have contracted. Symptoms of acute poisoning appear when the bacteria enter the body, according to Sakharov. However, his discussion was focused on this health threat and did not delve into the adaptation of a child to school.
Despite the different focuses of their discussions, both experts underscored the significance of providing support and creating a nurturing environment for children during periods of change.
