The Upper Darby School District has announced plans to purchase the former Crozer Health hospital in Drexel Hill, located at Lansdowne and Keystone avenues. The property, which spans over 7.73 acres, will be used for future educational purposes.
The district plans to tear down the main hospital building, an adjacent medical office building, and a parking garage on the site. The deal, worth $600,000, involved the purchase of these three structures.
The Crozer Health hospital, owned by Prospect Medical Holdings, has been closed since November 2022. However, the specific name of the organisation that operated the hospital at the Drexel Hill address since November 2022 is not currently available.
Prospect Medical Holdings, the previous owner, filed for bankruptcy in January. The Upper Darby School District was the buyer in this deal.
The property is situated just a quarter-mile from Upper Darby High School, making it a strategic location for future educational development. The exact plans for the site have not been disclosed yet, but the district has expressed its commitment to using the land for educational purposes.
