School Speed Regulations: Enhancing Safety with Speed Limits During Child Commutes

In Hanau, the local police recently carried out a traffic safety initiative called "Blitz for Kids" at two schools. The goal of this action was to raise awareness about the dangers around schools and prevent accidents involving children.

On Monday, the police focused their efforts on ensuring student safety. A total of 90 vehicles were controlled during the operation, and a mobile speed camera was used to monitor vehicles at both locations.

Speed checks were conducted on the street "In den Argonnerwiesen" (50 km/h zone) in the morning and on the "Alten Rückinger Weg" (30 km/h zone) in the afternoon. The most serious offense involved a driver traveling at 55 km/h on "Alten Rückinger Weg".

In total, 32 speeding offenses were detected. However, 25 of these offenses were in the warning fine range. To promote safe driving, a "green card" was given to those who adhered to the prescribed speed, while a "yellow card" was given to those driving too fast.

The responsible authority for conducting the "Blitz for Kids" in Hanau is typically the local municipal administration or the police department of Hanau. However, no specific agency name was directly mentioned in the provided search results.

Police Commissioner Thorsten Zimmermann emphasized the importance of driving carefully and slowly near schools. He stated, "The safety of children is our top priority."

The students from the Paul-Gerhardt School provided support during the morning control, handing out either a "green card" or a "yellow card" depending on driving behavior. Further traffic controls are planned.
