The Upper Palatinate Media and a new partner, the IZOP Institute, are set to kick off a new round of the "Newspaper in Schools" project for the school year 2023/24. This exciting initiative aims to teach media literacy to children and young people in an era of information overload.

For secondary school students, the project offers a comprehensive set of teaching materials. These include guides on researching and writing for the newspaper, photography for the newspaper, and using eReaders on topics like reading the newspaper "correctly", researching on the internet, and understanding search operators. Additionally, students will have access to information about internet search engines.

For primary school students (grades 3 and 4), the teaching materials provide practical tips for sending and receiving emails, as well as basic knowledge on topics such as "selective reading", "newspaper sections", "search engines", and "data protection". There are also eLearnings/eReaders for students and teaching suggestions with worksheets.

The project is flexible, allowing teachers to select the project period within the school year 2023/24. Registration for the project can be done online, and any questions can be directed to [email protected].

The e-paper, available for four weeks and readable every day, has been a popular component of the project in the past. Students have enjoyed writing police reports and interviewing each other as part of the project.

Teachers from both primary and secondary schools (grades 3 to 9) can order the digital e-paper from Upper Palatinate Media. Those who register their classes will receive additional teaching suggestions, worksheets, and eLearnings from the IZOP Institute.

The new partner participating in the "Newspaper in Schools" project for the 2023/24 school year has not been disclosed in the provided search results. Nonetheless, this collaboration promises to enrich the project and provide even more valuable learning experiences for students.
