Scooter rider abandons the accident site.
In the heart of Hürth, on Sunday evening, a pedestrian was unfortunately injured in an incident involving an e-scooter. The 44-year-old individual was crossing Krankenhausstraße at the intersection with Kochstraße around 6 pm, accompanied by family members.
According to the police of the Rhein-Erft district (Polizei Rhein-Erft-Kreis), the suspect was riding a black e-scooter and carrying a black backpack at the time of the incident. The e-scooter driver collided with the pedestrian on Krankenhausstraße, coming from Bachstraße and heading towards "In den Höhnen". After the collision, the e-scooter driver had a brief conversation with the pedestrian without exchanging personal details and then fled the scene.
The Rhein-Erft District Police are asking for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the police by phone at 02271 81-0 or by email at [email protected]. Tips can also be submitted anonymously.
The police are also urging the fleeing e-scooter driver to contact them. The suspect is described as a 25-year-old man with long blond hair, a beard, and was wearing a beige hoodie and pants. The investigators from the traffic commission have taken up the case and are continuing to work on it.
