Scottish Victory Dominates Buyer's Market: Aimee's Warrior Cup Encounter
In the heart of Germany, the small town of Kaufbeuren hosted the Warrior Cup, a prestigious ice hockey preparation tournament. Among the throngs of fans, a group of around 150 Scottish supporters, easily recognizable by their purple club colors, rooted for their team, the Glasgow Clan.
The final match of the tournament was between Red Bull Munich and Nuremberg, with Red Bull Munich emerging as the winner. However, the Scottish fans, led by 26-year-old Aimee Law from Glasgow's Baillieston neighborhood, initially rooted for Nuremberg, as they were considered the underdogs.
Aimee Law and her partner, Rebecca Carrigan, watched the tournament in Kaufbeuren. Aimee, an ardent follower of the local ice hockey scene in Glasgow, expressed her hope that Glasgow Clan and other ice hockey teams would play in Glasgow in the future.
The Scottish fans, including Aimee, enjoyed their time in Kaufbeuren. Away from the ice, fans of all jersey colors participated in activities such as cow milking, beer stein holding, and nail-hammering in the festival tent.
The Scots played against Munich on Saturday in the tournament. Unfortunately, they lost, which meant they played for third place against the hosts, ESV Kaufbeuren, on Sunday. Despite the loss, the Scots' spirit remained high, with Aimee and her fellow fans expressing no preference for the winner of the tournament, stating they just wanted to see ice hockey.
The ESVK traditional team played against a selection of German Ice Hockey Federation Allstars in the tournament. However, the absence of key players John Rogl and Max Hadraschek, as well as the injury of Tyson McLellan, may have impacted their performance. McLellan, who joined ESVK in the summer, was absent due to an injury sustained from a puck to the face.
The ice hockey preparation tournament in Kaufbeuren started on Friday. The DEL club EHC Munich won the Warrior Cup on Sunday evening, making it a successful tournament for the German team. The reunion between Scottish Clan fans and ESVK supporters is possible in the future, with plans for a meeting in 2026 being discussed.
As the tournament came to a close, the Scottish fans bid farewell to Kaufbeuren, taking with them memories of a thrilling competition and the camaraderie shared with fellow ice hockey enthusiasts from around the world.
