SDX's Leader Resigns: Newns Steps Down from Position

In the rapidly evolving world of digital assets, SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) continues to stand out as a pioneer. Based in Switzerland, SDX has achieved several industry "firsts," including becoming the first Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) to successfully interoperate between digital and traditional FMIs.

One of the most significant milestones for SDX was the deployment of the first securities tokenization and fractionalization service in production on a regulated FMI. This groundbreaking achievement paved the way for the first digital bond issuance on a fully regulated FMIF, another feather in SDX's cap.

The success of SDX is not limited to these accomplishments alone. Today, FMIs with over CHF 2.5 billion in digital securities have been issued on the SDX platform, making it a significant player in the digital asset market.

The prolific issuer of digital bonds on Earth, Paolo Bortolin, MBA at City of Lugano, has played a crucial role in SDX's growth. Notable founding members of SDX include UBS and Zürcher Kantonalbank.

The progress made by SDX would not have been possible without the support of SIX, members, issuers, partners, the Swiss National Bank, and the collective efforts across the Swiss Financial Centre. Thomas Moser, one of the most thoughtful and influential central bankers globally in advancing the understanding and responsible exploration of digital assets and DLT, has been a key supporter.

As the digital development at SIX Group continues, SDX has been fully incorporated into SIX Securities Services. Bjørn Sibbern, the Global Head of Exchanges at SIX, is leading the SDX (SIX Digital Exchange) as the next phase in this digital development begins. Under his leadership, SDX has successfully conducted securities settlement on wholesale CBDC (wCBDC) in production infrastructure.

David Newns, the former head of SIX Digital Exchange, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the team. The next phase in digital enablement at SIX Group is already underway, promising even more exciting developments in the world of digital assets.
