Seasonal activities for kids in Obertshausen: Blending creativity and sports for an enjoyable experience during fall break

In the first week of the fall holidays, Offenbach witnessed a unique blend of art and sports as the city hosted an inter-communal sports day, organised by the municipal children and youth promotion in collaboration with Heusenstamm.

The highlight of the sports day was a 24-meter-long bouncy castle that provided additional movement and fun for around 150 children from Obertshausen and Heusenstamm. The event aimed to bring children from different communities together, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie.

Meanwhile, in the second week, a separate event took place at the municipal youth center (Juz) on Bahnstraße. A graffiti workshop was organised for children aged 10 and above, in collaboration with artist Thekra Jaziri. The workshop was a financial challenge, but was realised with the support of donations and foundation funds, totalling around 12,000 euros.

Under Thekra Jaziri's guidance, the children learned various graffiti techniques and discussed the risks of illegal spraying. They were able to express their creativity on a 400-square-meter wall surface at the railway underpass between Otto-Wels-Straße and Brühlstraße. The result was a lively mural, which will serve as a puzzle picture in the future.

The mural includes the mascot of the municipal children's protection project "Turtle", named Paule. The graffiti project did not take place at the municipal children and youth promotion, but instead, it was held at the Juz.

Mayor Manuel Friedrich visited the graffiti project and expressed enthusiasm about its contribution to the beautification and safety feeling of the station area. However, it's worth noting that the graffiti project did not include team sports, dance courses, yoga workshops, or karate units, unlike the inter-communal sports day.

Looking forward, the city has plans to design a puzzle pass that children can download and fill out on-site. This could enable kindergarten groups to visit the station as a destination and decipher the mural. The graffiti project was a one-time event and was not repeated in the fall holidays.

Despite the success of these events, it's unfortunate that the search results do not provide information on who provided the funding for the graffiti project in the city of Offenbach. Nonetheless, the combined efforts of the city and its partners have undeniably added a vibrant and engaging touch to the fall holidays for the city's children.
