Security assurances Germany will extend to Ukraine, as discussed at the gathering of the "Firm Alliance" meeting
In a significant move, Germany has announced its intention to deepen cooperation between Ukraine's defense industry and partner countries. This decision comes as part of a collective effort by allies to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, a commitment that French President Emmanuel Macron has stated is now ready for political endorsement.
The production of winged missiles for Ukraine is already underway on Ukrainian territory, with financial and technical support from partners. This move is part of Germany's effort to improve Ukraine's long-range capabilities.
Germany's Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, has been leading the negotiations on security guarantees for Ukraine in Paris. The security guarantees, aimed at Ukraine, do not specify troop deployment from Germany.
In addition to this, Germany is ready to arm four mechanized brigades, which involves providing around 480 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other infantry fighting vehicles annually. Berlin's contribution to Ukraine's air defense will involve an annual increase of 20%.
The areas of continued support by Germany include training and defense industry cooperation. Germany plans to continue supporting the training of Ukrainian military personnel, a commitment that extends beyond the hot phase of the war.
It is also worth noting that Germany is already making a significant contribution in areas such as training and defense industry cooperation. Prior to the announcement of the security guarantees, a Resolute Support coalition meeting took place.
However, no specific plans for troop deployment in Ukraine, at least not from Germany, have been announced. The security guarantees, a collective effort by allies, are a testament to the international community's commitment to supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and security.
