Seized Luxury Items Valued Over €150,000 Held by Schweinfurt Customs and Aschaffenburg Police Traffic Unit

On May 3rd, 2025, a significant seizure was made during a routine traffic stop in Aschaffenburg, Germany. A BMW X5 with a German license plate was inspected by the traffic police Aschaffenburg - Höhbach. The vehicle occupants remained silent about the type, origin, and destination of the already price-marked and prepared goods for resale.

The joint investigation that followed uncovered a trove of illicit items. During the inspection, the police officers found ten packs of untaxed tobacco products, gold jewelry, and numerous sunglasses with brand emblems of well-known luxury brands in the vehicle interior. The total value of these seized items exceeded 150,000 euros.

Further investigation revealed that the goods also represented a tax evasion amounting to around 34,000 euros. The customs authority in Schweinfurt recorded these undeclared luxury goods and contraband cigarettes.

The Customs Investigation Office Frankfurt am Main has taken over the further criminal investigation, working closely with the Public Prosecutor's Office Aschaffenburg. This seizure was the result of a successful cooperation between Schweinfurt Customs officers and the traffic police Aschaffenburg - Höhbach.

In addition to the items found during the initial inspection, a further intensive vehicle inspection by the Customs at the Dettelbach - Mainfrankenpark customs office revealed more gold jewelry with a total value of over 100,000 euros. The Customs officers also found around 160 designer sunglasses with a goods value of over 50,000 euros in the vehicle.

A criminal investigation was initiated against the 30-year-old Romanian citizen who was driving the vehicle, on suspicion of money laundering. The goods seized were attributed to him.
