Yesterday in Hattingen, the fire department was kept busy with a series of incidents.

The day began with a reported burning trash bag, but by the time the emergency services arrived, it had already been extinguished. This incident did not require the deployment of the Middle Fire Station as landing site security was not necessary.

Later in the day, a serious traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Huttenstraße and Buechsenschuetz. Two cars collided, causing one vehicle to overturn and destroy a traffic light pole. The fire department was quick to respond, ensuring fire protection, illuminating the scene, absorbing leaking fluids, and disconnecting the battery of one of the vehicles. The injured were promptly transported to nearby hospitals.

In another incident, a rescue helicopter was alerted for a bicycle accident, but it was not needed.

The fire alarm system at Niederwenigern Elementary School was also triggered, but it was due to cooking vapors and not a fire.

During the day, the rescue services were deployed several times, and on two occasions, the professional staff were called upon to assist with carrying.

In a unique turn of events, a corn snake was found and handed over to a snake specialist, and an injured cat was handed over to its owner on site, making the intervention of the fire department unnecessary.

After the incidents, the scenes were handed over to the police. For further questions, please contact Jens Herkstroeter at 0171/2636035 or [email protected].
