Severous vehicle collision in Bochum: 27-year-old driver crashes into tree, ejecting 20-year-old passenger from the vehicle
In the heart of Bochum, Germany, a significant traffic accident occurred on July 23, 2022, at approximately 10:35 AM. The incident took place on Berliner Straße, near the Friedrich-Lueg-Straße intersection, causing the corresponding section to be closed for several hours.
The accident involved a car travelling towards Wattenscheid. During an overtaking maneuver, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which subsequently collided with the curb, hit two trees on the median, spun, and rotated. The cause of the loss of control is believed to have been excessive speed.
As a result of the collision, the driver and passenger, both in their twenties, sustained severe injuries. The driver, a resident of Hattingen, and the passenger, from Mülheim an der Ruhr, were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Upon arrival at the scene, specialists from the Bochum Police's traffic accident investigation team began their work. The Traffic Commission has since taken over further investigations into the accident.
