Shark Tank Co-Host Robert Herjavec Displays Knowledge, Humor, and Heart at ASI Chicago Event
Robert Herjavec, co-host of Shark Tank and tech millionaire, delivered a motivational keynote at the ASI Show Chicago, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in the city. Herjavec, who is also a competitor on Dancing With the Stars, shared his insights on business success and the importance of personal connections with customers.
Herjavec's journey to success began when he and his family escaped Communism in the former Yugoslavia and settled in Canada. His parents, who worked as a factory sweeper and a receptionist, instilled in him the values of hard work and determination. These values helped him build and sell several IT companies to major players, and eventually found the cybersecurity company Herjavec Group in 2003.
During his keynote, Herjavec emphasized the importance of making personal connections with customers. He advised the audience that the key to success is making an emotional connection with customers. Lori Schumanis of Shubox Promotions highlighted that Herjavec brought sales back to basics, emphasizing the importance of face-to-face interactions.
The ASI Show, a trade show bringing together suppliers and distributors, was attended by 4,213 distributors, up from 2017. Exhibitors at the show included 99 new exhibitors this year. Attendees came from 43 states and nine countries, reflecting the global reach of the promotional products industry.
Exhibitors at ASI Chicago were satisfied with steady traffic and engaged distributors. Terry O'Brien of Blue Generation expressed that ASI Show is a valuable part of their sales and marketing plan. Distributor Brady Zirlin of Blue Sky Marketing Group has attended Chicago for 15 years to visit suppliers, find solutions for clients, and strengthen vendor relations.
Matthew Ibalio of Customize Me stressed the importance of understanding one's motivation, intent, and goals to succeed in business. Rita Ugianskis-Fishman, senior vice president and general manager of ASI Show, is planning to wow attendees at ASI's 2019 shows in Orlando, Fort Worth, and Chicago, with registration opening August 6.
In addition to Herjavec, the ASI Show Chicago was also a celebration of the industry's top performers. ASI announced the winners of the 2018 Counselor Awards, including Sharon Eyal as Person of the Year and Peter Kelly as International Person of the Year. Sharon Eyal, an internationally renowned Israeli choreographer and dancer, was recognized for her innovative contemporary dance work.
The ASI Show Chicago was a testament to the power of personal connections and the importance of face-to-face interactions in the promotional products industry. As Herjavec's mother once expressed concern about his decision to start his own business, saying he would eventually get a job, it is clear that Herjavec's own personal connections and determination have led him to great success.
