Siblings in Police Custody for Alleged Larceny
In the early hours of August 29, 2025, a suspicious vehicle was reported at a construction site in Niederkassel/Rheidt. The police, responding to the report, stopped the vehicle in Loewenburgstraße.
Upon investigation, two brothers from Niederkassel, aged 23 and 30, were found inside the car. A search of the vehicle revealed a concrete saw, pickaxe, shovel, bolt cutter, and a level—all items missing from two broken tool trailers at the construction site.
The open tailgate of the car had a wrench handle sticking out, and further investigation revealed that fake license plates were attached over the original ones with tape.
The police suspected the brothers based on the items found in the car and the suspicious circumstances. The men were temporarily arrested, but were later released due to lack of evidence.
The specific nature of the construction site or the reason for the suspicion was not specified. The police did not comment on the accusations against the men, and no further details about the charges or arrests were provided.
The investigation into the suspicion of aggravated theft continues. The suspects are also accused of license plate fraud and forgery.
