Sir's Apple Intelligence update could potentially be delayed till January 2025.
Apple's digital assistant, Siri, is set to undergo a significant transformation with the release of iOS 18.1, scheduled for next month. This update will mark Siri's biggest AI infusion yet, activating with just the word "Siri".
The activated Siri will be indicated by a screen that lights up around the edges of the iPhone, providing a visual cue for users. Siri will no longer operate as a series of commands, instead conducting a conversation, handling "umms" and other speech errors during queries.
In addition to these changes, iOS 18.1 will also prioritize notifications rather than merely summarizing them. The update has already been through four beta tests and is currently in public beta, preparing for its official launch.
iOS 18.1 will feature a revamped Control Center and Type to Siri capabilities, offering users a more seamless and interactive experience.
While iOS 18.1 is on the horizon, Apple is also working on future updates. iOS 18.2, scheduled for December, will include Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and the Image Playground.
The most significant AI-infused iOS update, however, will be iOS 18.4, expected in the following year. This update is set to be the big kahuna for Siri and Apple Intelligence, focusing on unlocking Siri's total capacity, including on-screen awareness and personal context.
Reports suggest that Apple may be considering an earlier launch for iOS 18.4 due to user discontent over delays. A Bloomberg report even suggests a potential January launch for this update.
It's worth noting that the iPhone 16 will not get the Apple Intelligence features that scream "This is AI" until at least January. The iPhone 16/16 Pro launch has been met with general grievance, with users expressing disappointment over the lack of AI-focused updates.
Apple's walled garden ecosystem is being managed by Apple Intelligence, ensuring a seamless and secure user experience. Details about the features in iOS 18.3 have not been fully disclosed, but it's expected to be released at least in January.
The most significant AI-infused update, iOS 18.4, is set to be released next year, specifically in May 2025. This update will mark a new era for Apple devices, promising a more intelligent and interactive user experience.
