New Renault Clio Unveiled: Larger, More Efficient, and Tech-Savvy
Sixth round appearance of the Renault Clio at the International Motor Show (IAA)
The much-anticipated sixth generation of the Renault Clio is set to hit the market this fall, boasting a series of impressive upgrades and enhancements.
Firstly, the new Clio grows in all dimensions, with an increased length of seven centimeters to 4.12 meters. This expansion not only gives the Clio a more imposing presence on the road but also offers more interior space for passengers and cargo. The trunk capacity of the new Clio stands at 391 liters, with a lower loading lip for easier use.
Under the hood, the new Clio offers a choice of two initial combustion engines: a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 85 kW/115 hp and a full hybrid option, featuring a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 116 kW/158 PS. The base version of the new Clio, equipped with the 1.2-liter engine, will for the first time be available with a dual-clutch transmission.
The fuel consumption of the base version is 5.0 liters, while the top hybrid version boasts a remarkable 3.9 liters. The CO2 emissions of the base version are 114 g/km, and the top hybrid version emits just 89 g/km.
In terms of technology, the new Clio features an updated cockpit with a new infotainment system that integrates Google's software and navigation. This upgrade ensures a seamless and intuitive user experience for drivers and passengers alike.
The Renault Clio has been Europe's top-selling car in the first half of 2025, and the latest iteration promises to continue this success story. The brand edition released this fall is set to further solidify the Clio's position in the market.
Notably, a pure electric variant is not available for the Renault Clio; however, the brand offers the R4 and R5 for those seeking electric vehicles.
The sixth generation of the Renault Clio was unveiled at the IAA in Munich (September 9-14). With its larger dimensions, improved fuel efficiency, and cutting-edge technology, the new Clio is poised to continue its reign as a favourite among European drivers.
