Sizzling Insights: The Inferno Edition of the Second Yearly NYC Hot Sauce Expo Unveiled

Get ready, spice enthusiasts! The NYC Hot Sauce Expo is set to make a fiery return, promising a weekend full of heat, flavour, and camaraderie. This year, the event expects to attract a sizzling crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 attendees, ready to indulge in the world of hot sauces and spicy delights.

Taking place in Brooklyn, New York, the Expo will once again bring together more than 45 sauce makers from around the globe. Among the fiery lineup is none other than "Smokin'" Ed Currie, the mastermind behind the infamous Carolina Reaper pepper, and the Puckerbutt Pepper Company. Currie, known for his peppy personality as much as his spicy creations, will be present at the Puckerbutt booth, inviting visitors to taste his Reaper sauce.

The Expo promises to be a veritable melting pot of culinary delights, with a wide array of competitions and events. From the Bloody Mary Mixdown, where mixologists showcase their creative concoctions, to the spicy knish contest, where traditional Jewish fare meets the heat of the Expo, there's something for everyone. For those with a sweet tooth, the lollipop lick-a-thon and the Screaming Mi Mi hot sauce awards ceremony are must-sees.

But the main event for the spice aficionados is undoubtedly the Reaper Pepper Guinness Book of Records Eating Contest. This year, the record status will be awarded to the individual who can consume the most Reapers in one minute. Steve Smallwood, also known as "The Machine", will be attempting to defend his unofficial record of eight ghost peppers eaten in a single minute.

The Expo also welcomes special guests from the music world. Chris Caffery, lead guitarist of Trans Siberian Orchestra, and Eddie Ojeda of Twisted Sister, will be signing bottles of their respective hot sauces at the event.

For those interested in the origins of the Expo, last year marked New York City's first ever spicy foods convention. Since then, it has grown into a fiery fixture on the city's culinary calendar.

In addition to the sauce makers and competitions, the Expo will also feature Anna Cassell, a part-time film documentary filmmaker and full-time food lover. Cassell, who has worked at organic farms around the world, is always on the hunt for new variations of hummus to create.

So, if you're a fan of the fiery and the flavourful, mark your calendars for the NYC Hot Sauce Expo. It's set to be a scorching weekend of spicy delights and unforgettable experiences. And remember, what goes up must come down, and what goes hot must eventually cool - but the memories of the Expo are sure to linger long after the last drop of sauce has been savoured.

One final note: The sauce company produced in Sweden and featured at the Second Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo 2014 is "Chili Klaus." So, keep an eye out for this Nordic addition to the fiery lineup.

See you there, fellow spice enthusiasts! Let the games begin!
