In a heartwarming display of determination, 13-year-old Juliana, who lives with Angelman syndrome and ataxia, recently accomplished a remarkable feat. Accompanied by her dedicated caregiver, Sabrina L. Johnson, Juliana successfully navigated a series of obstacles, including a steep hill that led to an even steeper incline.

The hill, part of a walk that also included stairs and a long trek, was a formidable challenge for Juliana. However, her courage shone through as she fussed for a few minutes before continuing up the incline. Her caregiver, who has been raising Juliana for several years, praised her strength and willingness to keep going, finding it awe-inspiring.

Juliana's journey was not without its difficulties. She is particularly cautious when approaching varied grading at curbs due to her fear of falling. However, with patience and perseverance, she has made significant strides. For instance, she was initially hesitant to use the ramp built two summers ago, which provides Juliana access to the patio. But now, with assistance, she eases onto it with more confidence.

The caregiver noted that progress with Juliana cannot be rushed. Despite the slow pace, each time Juliana uses the ramp, they are filled with pride. The caregiver believes that Juliana will eventually conquer the ramp with confidence, just as she did with the hill.

Last summer, during a staycation at a lake resort, Juliana and her caregiver had to navigate stairs, steep declines, and hills due to the lack of accessible parking. Yet, Juliana's determination never wavered. Even when she couldn't see anything beyond concrete at one point, she was still at ease.

The journey culminated in a momentous achievement as Juliana and her caregiver reached the beach after a long walk, stairs, and hill climbing. The caregiver praised Juliana beyond belief and took pictures, cherishing this milestone in Juliana's journey.
