Smooth Assimilation or Flawless Combination

Nestled on a rare vacant lot in the heart of Outremont, Le Clos de la montagne has become a striking addition to the local landscape. Designed by MU Architecture, the residence was completed in the fall of 2023, offering a perfect blend of modernity and timeless elegance.

The construction appears as if it has been carefully sculpted to merge with the topography of the land, with a U-shaped design that hugs the curve of the site. The house presents three facades, two introverted and one extroverted, with the western side opening up to enjoy the sun and the view overlooking the city. The right side, facing the neighbor, is almost opaque to ensure privacy. The discreet facade on the eastern side, however, reveals the heart of the home: glass spaces and a terrace.

The interior design reflects the exterior, with human-scale proportions, an elegant design that is both modern and timeless, and the use of light wood, large pearl gray ceramic tiles, matte granite, marble, and Fenix. The central section includes a fully equipped kitchen, a welcoming dining area, and an inviting living room. It also features an attractive terrace with a lounge corner and integrated spa.

The interior of the residence is organized into three large sections. The central section is dedicated to conviviality, with the master suite located on the upper floor. This suite includes a bedroom, dressing room, vegetated roof, and bathroom. Access to the master suite is via a modern steel-structured staircase or elevator (Savaria, Vuelift). On the other side of the house, a separate workspace was designed during the pandemic, accessible via a glass bridge. This section also houses a guest bedroom and a relaxation room.

The owners have chosen to furnish their new home with Quebec furniture and objects, such as the Montauk Sofa, the Kastella table and chairs, and the dining room chandelier Anaka. The principle of the design was to create something subtle, discreet, and timeless. The kitchen features a La Cornue gas cooker, adding a touch of sophistication to the space.

Le Clos de la montagne was designed to create an intimate, secure nest, offering well-being and resourcing to its hosts, both indoors and outdoors, thanks to thoughtful planning. The residence is now well-established in the Outremont landscape, standing as a testament to MU Architecture's commitment to creating architectural masterpieces that harmoniously blend with their surroundings.
