Smuggler Kim Hall, caught with a £15 million worth of cocaine, avoids long jail term by taking a plea agreement

A British woman, Kim Hall, has had her 60-year sentence reduced to six years following a plea deal in the United States. The 29-year-old was caught with 43kg of cocaine at Chicago's O'Hare airport on August 18, 2020.

According to reports, Kim Hall was coerced into bringing two suitcases containing the drugs from a holiday in Cancun by two British men. One of the men allegedly held her at gunpoint, threatening to shoot her.

Upon her arrival at the airport, Hall was caught during a random check by Homeland officials. She claims to have been in a state of shock and disbelief after being caught with the drugs.

Hall maintained her innocence, stating that she was unaware of the drugs in the suitcases. She cried and pleaded to call her parents after being caught.

Hall's family, including her scaffolder dad John, 60, are overjoyed at her reduced sentence. They do not consider her a criminal and are looking forward to her return to the UK in 24 months.

Despite the reduction in her sentence, Hall will still serve half of the six-year term. The year she has spent on remand will also be taken into account. However, the location of her imprisonment and the specific prison she will be sent to are yet to be confirmed.

Hall's release from prison is scheduled for two years from now. She will be home in the UK by then, ending a chapter of her life that has been filled with uncertainty and turmoil.

The attorney representing Hall in the case is not specified in the available information, and the length of her imprisonment is also not mentioned. Despite this, Hall's case has drawn attention to the issue of drug smuggling and the consequences that follow.

As Hall prepares to serve out her sentence, her family and friends will be hoping for a swift and successful conclusion to this difficult chapter in her life.
