Solar Subsidy Applications Launch for 2025 Cyprus Solar Water Heating Program
The Cyprus Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Fund (RES and EEC Fund) has announced a new subsidy scheme for the installation or replacement of domestic solar water heating systems. The program, approved by the Council of Ministers over the summer, aims to support up to 2,000 households.
The scheme provides funding for the installation of complete solar thermal systems, including both the hot water cylinder and solar panels. Households located in mountainous or disadvantaged areas under the General Category (H1) are eligible for a grant of €500, while vulnerable households (H2) can receive a grant of €900.
Commencing works prior to approval automatically disqualifies an application. Applicants must obtain pre-approval before starting any installation works. Only pre-approved equipment from the Eligible Equipment Catalogue may be used. Installations must be carried out by certified professionals listed in the official Register of Participating Installers.
Applications can only be submitted online via the Fund's official website. A detailed guide and instructions are available to assist households in preparing their submissions. The RES and EEC Fund is encouraging industry professionals to register in the official installer register.
The equipment installed must meet the minimum technical standards. The program has a budget of €1 million, but the article does not provide new information about the number of households it aims to support or the grants' specific amounts for other categories.
The solar water heating subsidy program is a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and energy conservation in Cyprus. Households can receive up to €900 for installing or replacing solar thermal systems, making it an attractive option for many homeowners looking to reduce their energy bills and contribute to a greener future.
