SPICETRAILS Restaurants in Freiburg Begin Insolvency Proceedings, Search for New Owners Underway
In a recent development, the operating company of SPICETRAILS restaurants, SFD Systems GmbH, has filed for insolvency in Weilheim an der Teck. The two SPICETRAILS delis in Freiburg, known for their innovative South Asian cuisine, continue to operate at their usual times.
The insolvency proceedings are being overseen by Dr. Markus Schuster of Schultze & Braun, who is working closely with Managing Director of SFD Systems, Michael Kübler, to facilitate a smooth transition to a new owner by the end of autumn. Kübler, who has a personal connection to Freiburg and the region, opened the two delis there with the aim of providing a flagship for modern Southeast Asian cuisine with a local touch.
In an effort to keep the impact on gift card holders as low as possible under the given circumstances, it has been decided that gift cards for the SPICETRAILS delis can only be redeemed for 50% of the invoice amount during insolvency proceedings. The turnover from gift card redemptions goes into the insolvency estate.
Restaurant operations continue in full, with no wage arrears having occurred. The salaries of approximately twenty SPICETRAILs employees are secured until at least the end of October. All employees have been informed about the current developments.
Dr. Schuster is gaining an overview of the possible development prospects for the two SPICETRAILS delis. A search for potential new owners has begun, and interested parties are welcome to express their interest in an acquisition.
