Southland's Standout High School Football Players

In a week filled with exciting football action, several standout performances caught our attention.

Ryan Salcedo of Bishop Amat rushed for an impressive 220 yards and scored two touchdowns, leading his team to a victory over St. Paul. Similarly, Diego Montes of Granada Hills Kennedy showcased his versatility, passing for 280 yards and three touchdowns, while also running for 164 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Eagle Rock.

On the defensive side, Jayden Garcia of Granada Hills and Khary Wilder from Gardena Serra High School were instrumental in their teams' victories. Garcia had three tackles for losses, while Wilder achieved an impressive three sacks in Gardena Serra's shutout win over Palos Verdes.

Offensive prowess was on display in other games as well. Oscar Aguilar of Downey had a solid outing with nine tackles in a win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Liam Pasten of Eagle Rock passed for 389 yards and seven touchdowns, adding another score on the ground in a hard-fought loss to Kennedy.

Quentin Pacelli of Garden Grove gained 380 yards and scored four touchdowns in a loss to Los Amigos, while Ashton Pannell of Long Beach Millikan passed for 322 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Newbury Park.

In the Southern Section, Gatsbee Gumban of Covina rushed for 337 yards and four touchdowns in a win over La Puente, and Bryson Beaver of Vista Murrieta completed 24 of 34 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns in a victory over Great Oak.

Elsewhere, Noah Thayer of JSerra averaged 43 yards on seven punts in a loss to Sierra Canyon, and Luke Fahey of Mission Viejo completed 16 of 22 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown in a win over Santa Margarita.

Notable performances also included Keawe Browne of Corona Centennial, who had four receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Servite. Jaden Jefferson of Cathedral completed 15 of 21 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for two more scores in a win over Loyola.

In the North, Dane Weber of Chaparral passed for 257 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to San Juan Hills. Matix Frithsmith of Hart caught 12 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown in a loss to Birmingham.

Finally, Aidan Pacheco of Salesian made a 47-yard field goal in a loss to Western, and Antonio Vidal, L.A. Wilson, went six for six on PATs and made a 38-yard field goal in a win over Grant. Mark Lacob of North Hollywood added a 40-yard field goal against Granada Hills.

These standout performances highlight the talent and excitement that high school football continues to bring each week.
