Spain, alongside Granada, faces a heightening fire challenge in Baza

A fire has been burning in the Baza region, north of Granada, since August 20. The blaze, located in the area of Las Asperillas, within the municipality of Benamaurel, has been causing concern for local authorities and emergency services.

Álvaro Marín, the spokesperson for the Infoca plan, reported on the progress of firefighting efforts. By 3 PM, there were seven technical operation groups, one environmental agent, and a fire engine in the area. By 6 PM, nine aerial means were working in the region, including a coordination aircraft. Infoca personnel have been deployed to the area to combat the fire.

Despite the efforts of firefighters, the Infoca considers it "very difficult" to stabilize the fire by the end of the day. The wind started blowing from the west past 5:30 PM, making the situation more difficult. It is highly unlikely that the fire will be stabilized "at least in the next few hours." The Infoca Plan acknowledged that the situation has become increasingly difficult as the day has progressed.

The fire was declared far from inhabited nuclei, ensuring the safety of local residents. Firefighters will continue their work at night due to the unstable conditions. Three helicopters, including one heavy, one medium, and one cargo, were initially operating in the area. Firefighters will continue to battle the flames with both land and air resources.

Álvaro Marín, the spokesperson for the Infoca plan, reported on the progress of firefighting efforts. No new information about the status of the fire (ongoing or not) was provided in this paragraph. The Infoca did not provide any new information about ground resources or Infoca personnel in this update.

The fire in the Baza region continues to pose a challenge for emergency services, and the public is encouraged to stay informed and follow any safety instructions issued by local authorities.
