SPD Group marks a quarter-century of House of Cultures - Intercultural Weeks in Lübeck's celebration
In the heart of Lübeck, Germany, the city is once again embracing diversity and unity as the Intercultural Weeks 2025 get underway. This year's event, held under the patronage of Mayor Jan Lindenau, marks a special occasion as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the House of Cultures.
Dr. Marek Lengen, a member of the SPD faction, expressed his gratitude to the dedicated individuals in the cultural sector for their long-standing efforts in shaping Lübeck as a city of diversity and joy. He also congratulated the House of Cultures on its special jubilee, describing it as a central place for encounter and dialogue.
Aydin Candan, the integration policy spokesman of the SPD faction, echoed Dr. Lengen's sentiments, stating that the House of Cultures has been an open space for exchange, respect, and participation for 25 years. The events, which include concerts, creative offers, dance, exhibitions, festivals, lectures, and discussion formats, aim to set a strong sign for an open, solidarity-based, and democratic society.
The House of Cultures, a cornerstone of social life in Lübeck, is organising a diverse program under the motto "for it!" from now until October 3rd. The program, which is part of the Intercultural Weeks 2025, promises a rich array of events that celebrate the city's cultural diversity.
The 50th Intercultural Weeks in Lübeck were officially opened in the Audience Hall of the Town Hall. The SPD faction emphasised the need for political support and funding for the House of Cultures, recognising its indispensable role in the city's social fabric.
Migration and mutual cultural respect are closely intertwined, according to Dr. Lengen. He believes that the Intercultural Weeks show year after year that Lübeck is a city of encounters and togetherness. The SPD faction cordially invites all citizens to attend the events and be a part of this celebration of diversity and unity.
As democratic values face pressure, the Intercultural Weeks in Lübeck serve as a beacon of hope, promoting openness, solidarity, and respect. The events are a testament to Lübeck's commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and harmonious community.
