The Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) games are currently underway at the Chula Vista Resort in the Dells, marking the third year in a row that SOWI is hosting the weekend-long tournament. Over 900 athletes are participating in the event, which is more than ever before.

Danny Kuklinski, the senior sports director of SOWI, expressed his excitement about the tournament, stating that it's about more than just sports. According to Kuklinski, people make friends for life within SOWI, and this year's games are no exception.

In addition to sports, the athletes will participate in mental and physical health screenings and trainings. These additional activities aim to ensure the well-being of every participant and provide them with valuable resources for their personal growth.

The SOWI community is growing, and the organisation is seeking additional volunteers for the weekend. Over 500 volunteers have already responded to the call under the motto #gemeinsamstark to support the competitions and events. Kuklinski emphasised that volunteers, staff members, long-time volunteers, and first-time volunteers are all part of the SOWI community.

Athletes will be playing various sports, including football, bocce ball, softball, and more. Interested individuals can find more information about the games by visiting the SOWI website, which is linked below.
