"Speed Regulations Implemented: Ensuring Safety for Children During School Commutes"

The Hanau police, in collaboration with forces from the Hessian Police Headquarters, recently conducted speed checks at two schools as part of the "Blitz for Kids" traffic safety initiative. This action, which has been established in several federal states for many years, aims to increase awareness of special danger zones around schools and prevent accidents with children.

On Monday, the police prioritized the safety of the students as part of the new security structure implemented in the city and the Main-Kinzig district. A mobile speed gun was used to monitor vehicles at both locations - "In den Argonnerwiesen" (a 50 km/h zone) in the morning and "Alten Rückinger Weg" (a 30 km/h zone) in the afternoon.

During the traffic safety initiative, 90 vehicles were controlled. The most serious offense was a driver traveling at 55 km/h in the "Alten Rückinger Weg". In total, 32 speed violations were punished, with 25 in the warning fine range and 7 in the fine range.

Police Oberkommissar Thorsten Zimmermann, head of the control point, stated that children are particularly at risk in road traffic, especially near schools, and every meter too fast can be a danger. He emphasized that the initiative ensures that parents, students, and all traffic participants behave responsibly, especially at the beginning of the school year.

The "Blitz for Kids" action also served to remind traffic participants to drive particularly carefully and slowly near schools. The police paid special attention to "parent taxis" due to the potential for dangerous situations in front of schools. Further controls are planned as part of the initiative.
