Sports complex "Am Eisenbrand" undergoes turf renovation

The Eisenbrand Sports Centre, located in Meerbusch-Büderich, is currently undergoing a significant renovation. The focus of the project is the artificial turf pitch, which was first constructed 15 years ago in 2006.

Over the years, the pitch has experienced heavy use, resulting in numerous holes and frayed seams that required repeated repairs. Recognising the need for an upgrade, the city administration recommended the replacement of the artificial turf to the politics.

The renovation work has now begun, with the existing artificial turf system being dismantled and recycled. In its place, a new elastic base layer will be created on 7,500 square meters. This base layer will form the foundation for the new artificial turf, which is scheduled to be laid after the base layer is complete.

The new artificial turf will cater to both football and hockey, with the ball behaviour and ball control on the new surface expected to be improved. This improvement is particularly significant for hockey, as a water-filled pitch, now standard on hockey pitches, will be required for the sport on the new surface.

The improved surface will allow for higher-level hockey games, selection games, or corresponding training measures to be held on the new surface. This upgrade is sure to be a boon for the local hockey community, providing a top-quality playing surface for years to come.

The city administration has budgeted a total of 600,000 euros for the renovation of the artificial turf pitch. This investment is a testament to the city's commitment to maintaining high-quality sports facilities for its residents.

The renovation work is expected to be completed in the near future, and the Eisenbrand Sports Centre is set to emerge with a modern, state-of-the-art artificial turf pitch that will serve the local community well for many years to come.
