In an ambitious move, Acunmedya, the current shareholder of Sport1, aims to transform the sports channel into a sports and entertainment hub for the whole family. However, Sport1 is currently facing challenging times, and the success of Acunmedya's concept remains to be seen.

One of the key elements of this transformation is the comeback of the popular show "Fantalk" on Sport1, scheduled for September. Another significant change is the shift of the show "Please Smile," featuring funny home videos and bloopers, from Sport1 to RTL Zwei. The new version of "Please Smile" will be moderated by Christian Oberfuchshuber, a warm-up act for numerous TV shows.

Christian Oberfuchshuber, known for his energetic and engaging style, will take the helm of "Please Smile" from September 8 to October 6, 2025, when the new version of the show will air on Sport1. This move is expected to align with Acunmedya's strategy of making Sport1 a more diverse and appealing channel.

"Please Smile" has a rich history, first airing in 1990 on Tele 5, then on the DSF predecessor of Sport1, and finally until 1998 on RTL Zwei. Its return to Sport1 is a testament to the show's enduring popularity.

Meanwhile, RTL Zwei remains the current home of "Please Smile," where it continues to entertain audiences with its light-hearted and humorous content.

As Acunmedya works to revitalise Sport1, the future of the channel remains uncertain. However, with the return of beloved shows like "Fantalk" and the introduction of new talent like Christian Oberfuchshuber, it's clear that Acunmedya is committed to making Sport1 a more appealing destination for viewers of all ages.
