In a bid to expand its reach and provide a weather-resilient and high-speed internet solution for rural Canadians, SpaceX's Starlink is making significant strides. The satellite internet provider is aiming to accelerate growth further in areas with excess capacity across Canada.

The latest move from Starlink involves a price reduction for its services. The Residential Lite plan, available in select regions of Canada, now costs $90 CAD per month (down from $110). For those seeking unlimited, low-speed connectivity during periods of inactivity, Starlink's Standby Mode offers a small monthly fee.

SpaceX's efforts to grow its subscriber base in Canada seem to be paying off. The company recently surpassed 500,000 subscribers in the country. This price reduction strategy follows a similar promotion launched earlier this month in the U.S.

The standard Residential plan in Canada now costs $115 CAD per month (down from $140). Alongside this, the standard Starlink Kit has seen a significant price drop, from $599 CAD to $249 CAD. The discounted Starlink Standard Kit is now available at Best Buy in Canada.

Starlink dishes are designed to withstand Canada's harsh weather conditions, capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 43°C. They have proven their reliability during snowstorms and thunderstorms, as highlighted by Rose L. from Minesing, Ontario, in a customer testimonial.

Starlink's network maintains an average uptime of 99.9% during heavy rain, snow, and natural disasters. The latest generation Starlink kits can even melt snow and endure winds of up to 160+ kph.

As Starlink continues to establish itself as a strong alternative where traditional internet infrastructure falls short, it's clear that the company is committed to providing reliable, high-speed internet to Canadians, no matter the weather conditions.
