The 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is set to kick off on Thursday and promises to be North America's biggest movie event of the year. Over 11 days, A-list stars, critics, and large audiences will flock to the city for a celebration of cinema.

Among the many highlights, Brendan Fraser will play a lonely actor in the film "Rental Family." Guillermo del Toro brings his reimagining of "Frankenstein" to TIFF, while Russell Crowe, Sydney Sweeney, and Daniel Craig are attending the festival with world premieres.

In "Nuremberg," Russell Crowe stars as the infamous Nazi Hermann Göring on trial. Angelina Jolie takes on a leading role in the fashion drama "Couture," directed by Alice Winocour, who pairs with Jolie for this Paris-set film.

Josh Brolin plays an unnerving demagogue in a film that tackles current issues in a fun, locked-room, classical-plot way. Keanu Reeves takes on a unique role as an incompetent angel in Aziz Ansari's "Good Fortune."

Several French auteurs are set to attend this year's TIFF, including Romain Gavras, Claire Denis, and Arnaud Desplechin, who bring European flair to the festival. Gavras's "Sacrifice" stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans, while Denis' drama "The Fence" features Matt Dillon.

Channing Tatum portrays a real-life fugitive in "Roofman," and Jessie Buckley plays Agnes in the literary adaptation "Hamnet," directed by Chloe Zhao. Baz Luhrmann will premiere "EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" at TIFF, and director Agnieszka Holland presents "Franz" about Franz Kafka.

TIFF also features a number of exciting premieres from notable actors. Matthew McConaughey, Paul Mescal, Angelina Jolie, and Anya Taylor-Joy will attend screenings and events throughout the festival.

Sydney Sweeney stars in "Christy," a biopic about U.S. female boxing pioneer Christy Martin. The Netflix's "Knives Out" whodunit franchise returns for a third time at TIFF, with Daniel Craig investigating a new murder in "Wake Up Dead Man."

Charlotte Rampling stars in Desplechin's love story "Two Pianos." The festival also promises to be a showcase for up-and-coming talent, with films like Joscha Bongard's "Babystar" and German actress Nina Hoss, who receives the TIFF Tribute Performer Award and appears in "Hedda."

With its diverse lineup of films and stars, the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival promises to be an unmissable event for film enthusiasts. Mark your calendars and get ready for 11 days of cinematic excellence!
