Starting lineup for the 2025 Catalan MotoGP Grand Prix at Barcelona, determined through qualifying rounds
The grid for the Sprint race of the 2025 Catalunya Grand Prix in Barcelona is set, with Alex Marquez securing the pole position for the BK8 Gresini Ducati team.
Alex Marquez, the winner of the 15th MotoGP qualifying round, set a time of 1’37.536s to claim the coveted spot on the grid. He will be joined on the front row by Fabio Quartararo from the Yamaha team and Marc Marquez from the Ducati team, who will start from third place.
Marc Marquez's teammate, Jorge Martin, had a disappointing qualifying session and will start from 18th place. Enea Bastianini, riding for the Tech3 team, will start from ninth place, while Luca Marini, riding for the Honda team, will start from tenth place.
Fermin Aldeguer, starting for the Gresini team, will start in 13th place after failing to qualify. Pedro Acosta, riding for the KTM team, had a somewhat disappointing qualifying, ending in fifth place.
Johann Zarco, riding for the LCR team, is the best Honda rider, starting from the seventh position. Aleix Espargaro, also riding for the Honda team, starts in 18th place. Jorge Martin, riding for the Aprilia team, starts in 17th place.
Franco Morbidelli, riding for the VR46 team, has secured the fourth spot on the starting grid. Brad Binder, riding for the KTM team, starts in 11th place, while Fabio Di Giannantonio, also riding for the VR46 team, starts in 6th place.
The Sprint race starts on Saturday, 06.09., at 15:00 CET. The Grand Prix follows on Sunday, 07.09., at 14:00 CET.
Notably, Franco Morbidelli had a disastrous session and will start from 21st place, while Joan Mir, despite being the fastest in FP2, qualified in 17th place and received a penalty for blocking on the ideal line. Maverick Vinales starts in 23rd place for the Sprint race, riding for the Tech3 team.
Lorenzo Savadori starts in 24th place for the Sprint race, riding for the Aprilia team, and Somkiat Chantra starts in 25th place for the Sprint race, riding for the LCR team. Raul Fernandez starts in 15th place for the Sprint race, riding for the Trackhouse team.
The 15th qualifying round of the 2025 MotoGP season has concluded, with Alex Marquez securing his second MotoGP pole position. Fabio Quartararo and brother Marc Marquez are the first chasers on the grid.
