Startup businesses anticipate employment growth
German Startups Focus on Workforce Expansion, According to Bitkom Survey
The German tech industry is showing signs of optimism, with a growing focus on personnel matters, according to a recent survey conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of the Digital Association. The survey, which polled 152 tech startups in Germany, provides a meaningful snapshot of sentiment within the industry.
The survey results suggest that the German startup scene is focusing on expanding its workforce. On average, each surveyed German startup currently has two open positions to fill. Moreover, a staggering 75% of the surveyed founders expect an increase in employee numbers by 2025, with only 2% anticipating a decrease.
Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst commented on the survey, stating, "The results indicate an optimistic outlook towards the future of the German startup scene." Last year, the average number of employees in German startups, according to the same survey, was 15. However, the survey did not specify the exact number of employees that startups expect to add by 2025.
The survey results also suggest a trend towards hiring that could lead the German startup scene into a growth phase. A year ago, the average number of employees in German startups was 15, but it has decreased by two over the past 12 months. This decrease could be a temporary setback, as the industry seems to be gearing up for growth once again.
However, it's important to note that the survey is not necessarily representative of the entire German startup scene. Additionally, the survey did not ask about the reasons behind the expected growth in employee numbers, the potential impact of this growth on the productivity of startups, or the overall economy.
Despite these limitations, the survey results underscore a stronger focus on personnel topics among many founders. As the German startup scene continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how this focus on hiring translates into growth and innovation in the industry.
