State Government of Kebbi asserts that Attorney General of the Federation, Malami, is solely accountable for the attack on himself, not the Governor or APC, asserting that he violated the law.
In the heart of Birnin Kebbi, a tense atmosphere was broken as peace was restored following an incident involving the convoy of former Attorney General Abubakar Malami. Governor Nasir Idris took swift action, ensuring the situation was brought under control.
Governor Idris summoned a security meeting headed by the Commissioner of Police to address the incident and maintain peace in the state. The meeting was a response to the unexpected event, and the Commissioner of Police was tasked with ensuring that normalcy returned as quickly as possible.
The Kebbi State government immediately ordered investigations into the attack on Malami's convoy, with a committee headed by the Commissioner of Police established to delve into the matter and bring justice to all parties. The committee's mandate was to uncover the truth behind the incident and ensure that those responsible were held accountable.
Rumours circulated that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were behind the attack. However, these claims were dismissed as unfounded, with the government categorically denying any involvement in the violence.
Amidst the chaos, it was reported that members inside the APC office were observing prayers when Malami's group stopped, shouting slogans. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Idris, Ahmad Idris, described these claims as false and misleading.
Ahmad Idris also accused Malami of breaching the law by coming with a convoy and sirens into Birnin Kebbi. He further stated that, as an ordinary citizen, Malami is no longer entitled to use a convoy and sirens. Governor Idris himself had no hand in the incident and is innocent.
In response to the incident, Governor Idris warned that no political party or individual should engage in campaigns or use sirens at this time. He also directed the Commissioner of Police to tighten security across all angles to prevent any future incidents.
Despite the initial turmoil, peace was restored within a few hours, as assured by Ahmad Idris. Other dignitaries, including the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election and Senator Adamu Aliero, paid condolence visits to Kebbi without thugs or convoys.
With investigations ongoing and heightened security measures in place, life in Birnin Kebbi returned to normalcy. The people of Kebbi can rest assured that their safety and well-being remain the top priority for the state government.
