State Sponsored Advertising Competition 2024: Showcasing Innovative Advertising Concepts
In a celebration of innovation and community spirit, several German cities were recognised at the annual Staatsanzeiger Award. The event, held at the historic Altes Schloss in Stuttgart, honoured municipal projects that strengthen society and democracy locally.
The city of Mutlangen was a standout winner, taking home the special prize "Youth and Democracy" in the "Citizen Participation" category for its youth council initiative, the Jugendbeirat Mutlangen. Mayor Stephanie Eßwein of Mutlangen was present to receive the award, presented by Danyal Bayaz.
Meanwhile, Mayor Matthias Beer of Bavaria, along with his colleague Sebastian Koch, won the "Mayor's Mission" award for their podcast "Lark and Bear." The podcast offers a casual and relaxed explanation of local politics in the Regensburg district.
The city of Reutlingen also made a mark, winning in the same category with their campaign "Reutlingen, you can't like - only love." The campaign, which went viral and made Reutlingen a sympathetic city throughout Germany, caused a stir initially with slogans containing derogatory criticism.
Elsewhere, the municipality of Mutlangen focuses on easy access to keep young people engaged. This approach was recognised and rewarded at the ceremony.
Schorndorf, on the other hand, is making waves with its innovative approach to administration. New employees are now receiving AI training instead of the traditional MS Office training.
The festive evening was not just about awards, it was also a relaxed atmosphere for networking among nominees, winners, and guests. The band "Davenport" provided music for the networking event, adding to the celebratory mood.
Offenburg's city democracy project offers city tours for migrants, focusing on Germany's democratic development. Meanwhile, the long-vacant Schloss Blumenfeld in Tengen (Konstanz district) was revitalized for workshops, concerts, and exhibitions, winning the "Culture and Tourism" award.
