Staten Island's county fair commences this weekend, featuring amusements and activities catering to children.

The Richmond County Fair, a cherished Staten Island tradition dating back to 1895, is set to return this year, promising a weekend of entertainment, food, and fun for all ages.

Taking place from Saturday through Monday, the fair will be held in Staten Island and is expected to attract over 15,000 people. Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, including live music, carnival rides, games, costumed performances, demonstrations of traditional skills, kid-friendly attractions, and food contests.

For those seeking a taste of local flavour, the fair features eating contests for all ages and a competition involving local produce, with a special category for the best cucuzza, or "gagootz." Over 100 vendors will be selling food, antiques, and other goods at the fair, ensuring a diverse and exciting culinary experience.

To make your visit as seamless as possible, the fair does not provide on-site parking. However, off-site parking and shuttle services are available. Visitors can park in the surrounding neighborhood or at the Staten Island Mall and take a free shuttle to the fairgrounds. Alternatively, the S54 and S74 buses offer convenient transportation options.

The fair serves as the biggest fundraiser for Historic Richmond Town, Staten Island’s largest and oldest cultural institution. Proceeds from the fair will help fund historic preservation efforts across more than 100 Staten Island acres.

Tickets for the Richmond County Fair are available for purchase online or at the gate. The cost for general admission is $15, while seniors (65 and older) pay $12. Children between 3 and 11 years old pay $7, and kids under 2 are free. The fair's daily hours are from noon to 8 p.m.

So, mark your calendars and get ready to join the community in celebrating this historic event. The Richmond County Fair promises to be a fantastic occasion filled with fun, food, and tradition, all while supporting a worthy cause. See you there!
