The new school year in Lippe has seen a surge in traffic violations near schools, with the Lippe Police stepping up their efforts to ensure the safety of students.

On the first day of the school year, a total of 122 speeding offenses were detected near schools in the region. The Lippe traffic police conducted school route checks on August 27, 2025, to ensure the safe journey of students.

In addition to speeding, several drivers were found to be using their mobile phones while driving. Two such drivers will face a fine and points in Flensburg for their actions.

In Detmold-Klüt, five red light violations were enforced at a traffic light used by children for their school journey on August 27, 2025. At the Grundschule Wasserfuhr in Bad Salzuflen, speed cameras flashed 97 times on the same day.

The Lippe Police will be on duty around schools in the coming days, continuing their efforts to ensure the safety of students. Several parent taxis and a teacher were among those driving too fast, highlighting the need for increased vigilance from all road users.
