Stellantis CEO suggestions Canada as potential location for electric vehicle battery factory
Stellantis NV, the automotive giant formed through the merger of Fiat Chrysler and the PSA Group of France, has announced plans to invest $44.5 billion in low-emission cars, part of which will be used to build their own battery plants.
According to recent reports, two of the battery plants will be located in North America, and three in Europe. The locations for these plants are yet to be confirmed, but rumors suggest they will be in Germany, France, and Italy. In North America, one of the plants may be in Canada, with the possibility of two, and the other in the United States.
Stellantis NV has been in the early stages of meetings with the Government of Canada regarding the potential location of the new battery plant in Canada. It is uncertain whether the provincial or federal government will be able to attract Stellantis to Ontario or Quebec for the location of the new battery plant.
