Stellantis restructures North American leadership, with the return of CEO for Ram brand
In a significant shake-up, automaker Stellantis has announced a series of leadership changes, aiming to boost its performance and drive growth.
Antonio Filosa, who has been serving as the CEO of Jeep, has been appointed as the brand's COO as well. Antonio succeeds Carlos Zarlenga, who held the COO position since February. Christine Feuell, previously overseeing Jeep, will now take charge of Chrysler and Alfa Romeo.
Meanwhile, Timothy Kuniskis, who retired in May, has returned to the company as the CEO of Ram. Kuniskis replaces Larry Dominique, who is leaving Alfa Romeo after leading the brand in North America. The new chairman of Alfa Romeo in North America is yet to be named.
Jeff Kommor, who was appointed SVP of commercial sales for Stellantis in February, has now been appointed as head of North American sales. Kommor will be responsible for growing the automaker's fleet, government, and other B2B vehicle sales.
Financial results for the third quarter show a mixed picture. While Stellantis' vehicle shipments in North America declined by 36% year over year, the Ram brand sales remained relatively strong. Commercial sales of heavy-duty Ram trucks, including the 2500 and 3500 models, increased by 26% year over year. Light-duty retail sales of Ram also saw an 11% growth from Q2 to Q3.
However, the net profit of Stellantis fell by 48% year over year in the first half of 2024. Despite reporting a net profit of 18.6 billion euros ($19.6 billion) in 2023, the company has lowered its full-year guidance in response to the falling profit.
These changes in leadership are part of a series of corrective actions initiated by Stellantis, aimed at improving its financial performance and positioning the company for long-term success. The company is hopeful that these changes will help it navigate the challenging market conditions and secure a strong future.
