Thunderstorms and hail to persist throughout the remainder of this week and following days in Saudi Arabia, according to weather predictions

Stormy weather persists in Saudi Arabia, with thunder, lightning, and hail expected to carry on until the end of next week.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in Saudi Arabia has issued a warning for residents, urging them to monitor official forecasts and follow safety instructions issued by authorities. According to the NCM, widespread unsettled weather is expected on Friday, with the conditions persisting into next week.

Lighter to moderate showers are possible in several regions, including the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Jazan, Hail, Medina, and Najran. The Arabian Gulf is expected to see wave heights of up to 1.5 meters, while seas in the Red Sea could be moderate to rough under thunderstorm clouds.

Fog is expected to form along coastal areas of Tabuk and the Eastern Province. Looking ahead, the NCM said Saudi Arabia's numerical weather models point to continued rainfall of varying intensity through the end of next week. The forecast includes thunderstorms, hail, and dust storms in several parts of the Kingdom.

Moderate thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds are expected in parts of Jazan and Asir. The Arabian Gulf is expected to see northwesterly winds in the north and shifting conditions in the central and southern parts. Waves in the Red Sea could be higher than two meters due to the strong winds.

Lighter rain is anticipated in the southern areas of the Eastern Province, as well as in Najran and Al Baha. Maritime conditions in the Red Sea are forecast to worsen, with surface winds reaching up to 55 kilometers per hour in the south. Visibility may drop to near zero due to dust-raising winds on the coastal road leading to Jazan.

Areas most affected by the unsettled weather are expected to include Asir, Al Baha, and Mecca. However, the NCM has stated that regions in Saudi Arabia expected to continue experiencing rain, storms, and strong winds at the end of next week are not explicitly detailed in the current forecasts. Additional or updated local forecasts from the National Centre of Meteorology would be needed to specify those regions accurately.

Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather updates and follow safety instructions issued by the authorities to ensure their safety during this period of unsettled weather.
