Strike action occurring at Helios Klinikum Pforzheim on a Monday
Helios Clinic Pforzheim, a well-known medical facility in Baden-Württemberg, is set to experience a disruption on Monday, January 14, as service trade union Ver.di has called for a warning strike. The strike, which will involve all employees and trainees, is a precursor to further action and is scheduled from 9 am to the end of the late shift.
The strike is in response to the employees' desire for fair involvement in the substantial profits of Helios. Verdi, the union representing the clinic's staff, is demanding an 8% wage increase over one year, a 200 euro increase for employees, and a 200 euro increase for the training allowance.
The Baden-Württemberg branch of the Marburger Bund, the doctors' interest group, has declared solidarity with the strike organizers, expressing support for the demands for fair wage and training remuneration.
Due to the agreement on emergency duty, only emergency services will be performed at Helios Clinic Pforzheim on January 14. Planned operations, diagnostics, and therapy do not fall under the emergency duty agreement.
It's important to note that this strike is not currently associated with any other known strikes or labor disputes at Helios or elsewhere. The current wage negotiations with the union ver.di are with the employer side represented by the Tarifgemeinschaft deutscher Länder (TdL), led by Hamburg's Finance Senator Dr. Andreas Dressel, concerning the public service employees of the German federal states (TV-L), starting December 2025.
This warning strike at Helios Clinic Pforzheim is a significant development in the ongoing negotiations between Verdi and the healthcare sector. As the situation evolves, updates will be provided to keep the public informed.
